About Cedar Cottage Country Foods

The Stair Fold of highland cattle was established by the McIntyre family in Ayrshire in 2002 and Cedar Cottage Country Foods was founded shortly afterwards, to supply their locally reared highland beef to the public.

Initially trading at a few local farmers markets in Ayrshire and Glasgow, both the product range and the geographical reach of the company has since expanded, with a loyal band of regular customers attending farmers’ markets from Loch Lomond to Balerno, and lots of places in between, to buy the famous ‘Hairy Beast’ Steak Pie and other Cedar Cottage produce.

The flagship product remains the highland beef, but the range has expanded to include pork, chicken and lamb, on a seasonal basis and subject to availability. In addition to their own home reared produce, Cedar Cottage also work in partnership with other farmers and suppliers to meet the ever increasing demand for high quality, home grown Scottish produce.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure that customers were still able to access Cedar Cottage produce, a bespoke delivery service was introduced. Quickly reacting to customer demand, Cedar worked with other local producers to come up with a range of food ‘packs’ to provide a range of good quality essentials, including farm fresh eggs and milk, and fruit and veg. These packs are particularly aimed towards people having to self-isolate at home but have also been well received by loyal Cedar Cottage customers who were missing their usual farmers’ market supplies.
